The online warlord league
Rules Page

See the Offical Warlord League Rules (modifications for the online league are in red) to get an overview of how the league works. We've adapted the rules for online play using Apprentice. There are a total of 36 warlords available, and we assign each player a unique one to use, giving us a maximum of 36 players this season. Currently we are in the second season of the league.

Deck Construction

You must play with a tournament-legal deck for the league, following the additional restrictions for league play. Your army starts at level 1. You may use action cards equal to your army level, except level 5 actions must be unlocked in order to be used. You may use items up to level 4. You may use characters up to level 3. All promo cards must be unlocked before they may be used.

You receive 5 bonus XP if you stay in-faction, and anther 5 XP if you stay in-faction and co-aligned. You cannot unlock another warlord for use in your army. Multiclassed characters are counted to be the level that they enter play in. (Naomi of Sarakia, for example, is a 3rd level multiclassed character who enters play as if she were level 4. This means that she is a locked character as far as the league goes.)

Playing Games

Each week, play games (only the first four count toward XP, and you cannot play the same person twice per week), try quests (you can try them all once, getting 10XP per loss, until you beat one), and participate in the event for that week (if any). At the end of the week, if you have the needed experience, your army will gain a level:
Level 10
Level 2400
Level 31600
Level 43600
Level 56400

Before you lay down your starting army, don't forget to have someone roll a d12 to determine the terrain to use for that game. After the game, both players need to pull out all the characters from their graveyards and tally the levels. Yes, include levels of characters you discarded from your hand. Both players decide who will report the game to Steve, and then you both indicate what bonuses you have in effect (+5 XP for in-faction, + 5 for in-faction and co-aligned). Winner gets 60XP + levels in opponents graveyard + bonus - handicap (see league rules). Loser gets 20XP + levels in opponents graveyard + bonus + handicap.

Terrain

Terrain is in effect, as described in War Journal #2. Before each game, after decks have been loaded, before starting characters are selected, someone rolls a d20. On a 12-20, you have no terrain. Otherwise the terrain from the WJ #2 1-11 is in play for that game. See the terrain page for details.

Quests

Each week, you may try your hand at solving a quest. You may try a week's quest only once that week. You gain 10 XP per failure. Once you have won a quest, you may not try any more quests that week. Terrains do not apply to quest, and there are no XP bonuses for staying in-faction and co-aligned. Contact a moderator (or someone authorized to run quests) to play a quest (see the contact page). Immediately after the quest, the moderator will ask what you want to unlock. Be ready with your answer, it's annoying to wait around after a quest while the player reads the text of a bunch of cards, especially when there are others waiting in line to try quests. In other words, choose your prize from the list before requesting a quest! Once you unlock a card, you must wait until the start of the next week to use it in decks.
